Sport

A sports program is held weekly for Public students. Students are required to wear their sports uniform on their sports day and on other week days for Physical Education lessons timetabled by the class teacher.

Students participate in a wide range of sporting activities. Years 4-6 play AFL, netball and soccer in the North Shore Zone PSSA competition.

All students are involved in skills development for many sports including cricket, T Ball, AFL, tennis, swimming, gymnastics and athletics.

A Swimming Carnival is held during Term 1 for students aged 8 years and over.

An Athletics Carnival is held in Term 3 of students aged 8 years and over. K-2 students are involved in a separate carnival of novelty events and running races.

A Cross Country Carnival is held in Term 2 for students aged 8 years and over.

School representative are selected from both the Swimming and Athletics Carnivals to participate in the Zone events. Success at Zone level qualifies for Regional representation.

Skipping teams

The Northbridge Knockouts Jump Rope demonstration team is very well recognised nationally and internationally. Northbridge skippers have competed in the Australian Championships over the last several years and in international competition in 2004. The Knockouts has performed at various venues flying the Northbridge flag - Paralympic Games, netball and basketball halftime shows at the Super Dome, State Sports Centre, Parliament House (ACT), in Darwin (NT) and at various venues in Tasmania. We consistently host international Jump Rope teams here at Northbridge School. The Northbridge Beats is the second team full of talented children working hard to become a member of the Knockouts.

Gymnastics

Each class participates in a 9 week gym program run by Flip Gymnastics. They learn acrobatic, tumbling, balancing and vaulting skills, just to name a few.

Athletics

Our school holds its annual athletics carnival at the beginning of Term 3. We are fortunate to have the oval next to school for this event.

Tennis

We are fortunate at Northbridge to have two high quality tennis courts. Students participate in a 5 week coaching clinic as part of PE program. The courts are available at lunch time for students Year 2 to 6 to play socially.

AFL

Year 4 students are involved in PSSA competition in Term 2 and 3. Year 4 competes in the Paul Kelly Cup.

Swimming

Our annual swimming carnival is held at Ryde Aquatic Centre in Term 1. Students who are place-getters in finals progress to the Zone carnival at Lane Cove pool, then onto the Area at Homebush.
Students in Year 2 - 4 participate in an intensive swim program in Term 4. This is held at Willoughby Pool.
Year 5 and 6 participate in a Surf Education Day at Dee Why and Longreef beaches in December.
