Homework
The amount and format of homework will vary from grade to grade. Parents will be told of these early in the year. The purposes of homework are:
- To consolidate work done in class.
- To gradually prepare students for the study habit they will have to acquire it in secondary school.
- To teach students to organise their leisure time around other responsibilities.
The process of doing homework is just as important as what the student actually does. As students get older, they should be encouraged to organise themselves so that there is time for play, sport, ballet, music, clubs, TV etc as well as time set aside specifically for homework. This time should be free of other distractions and, if possible, be done in a quiet place, ie own desk.
